WP Offload Media Pro: WordPress Media Offloading
WP Offload Media Pro copies images, videos, documents, and other documents added through the WordPress media uploader to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage. It also copies image thumbnails. After a file is copied, the add-on replaces its media URL with the remote storage URL.
How uploads move to remote storage
WP Offload Media Pro copies images, videos, documents, and other documents added through the WordPress media uploader to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage. It also copies image thumbnails. After a file is copied, the add-on replaces its media URL with the remote storage URL.
When Amazon CloudFront or another CDN is configured, media can use the CDN URL instead, including a custom domain if one is configured. New files first upload to the WordPress server and are then copied to the selected storage service. Direct uploads to the storage account are not supported. You can choose to remove server files after they have been copied to the bucket.
Move files from an existing Media Library
The standard upload process handles new files; it does not copy older Media Library files to remote storage or serve them from the bucket. Pro includes an upload tool for existing files, which helps bring an established library into the same remote storage workflow.
Manage files and delivery
Pro lets you control offloaded files from the WordPress Media Library. The Assets Pull addon can deliver CSS, JavaScript, and font files through CloudFront or another CDN. Media delivery through a CDN also depends on configuring that service with the add-on.
Use ecommerce integrations and image optimization
The Pro upgrade includes integrations for WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads, along with priority email support. Email support is not provided for the free version.
WP Offload Media does not include image optimization. It does support integration with EWWW Image Optimizer, so optimization remains a separate step from copying media to remote storage and delivering it through a CDN.
Set up the storage workflow
Add WP Offload Media Pro to the WordPress site, choose Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage, and configure a CDN if you want files delivered through one. For an established site, use the Pro upload tool for existing Media Library files. Continue adding new files through the WordPress media uploader.
