Choose what moves
A complete migration can transfer the database along with themes, plugins, media uploads, and other wp-content files. For a narrower database transfer, choose tables and exclude post types. Review the selected content, available exclusions, and destination before starting so the transfer matches the work you intend to move.
Find and replace supports serialized data. WP Migrate unserializes values, replaces matching strings, then serializes the updated values before placing them back in the database. You can back up data before a migration, and exclude spam comments.
Reuse options and move multisite content
Save settings in migration profiles to configure recurring transfers more quickly. Pro’s multisite features include pushing a subsite to a single-site installation and migrating a subsite between multisite networks. WP-CLI integration lets you execute migrations from the command line. Pro also includes priority email support.
These workflows can move changes between development and staging, copy a site into another environment, or transfer selected content when a full database copy is unnecessary.
Prepare a migration
- Install and activate WP Migrate Pro, then open its interface.
- Create or select a migration profile and pick the source and destination workflow.
- Choose a complete site migration or selected database content.
- Review the available exclusions and backup option before starting the transfer.
For command-line migrations, use the WP-CLI integration. During migrations, plugins enter compatibility mode by default and do not load for migration requests; specific plugins can be enabled in the administration interface when needed.
