Limits and the work they affect
upload_max_filesizesets the maximum size of an individual upload.post_max_sizeaffects large form submissions and page-builder saves.memory_limitsets the PHP memory available to demanding extensions such as WooCommerce and page builders.max_execution_timesets how long processes such as imports, exports, and backups can run.max_input_timesets how long scripts can parse input data, including during larger uploads.max_input_varsaffects complex menus, theme options, and page-builder saves.
The plugin first attempts runtime changes through ini_set(). If the hosting environment restricts those changes, you can enable the optional experimental method for writing rules to .htaccess. Hosting settings may still prevent a requested value from taking effect. The plugin also generates .visitor.ini and .htaccess snippets for manual use.
Check what the server applies
Open Settings > MaxLimits and review Current Server Values. Choose a recommended value or enter a custom one, save the limits, then compare the active values with your selections.
If the values have not changed, open the Direct File Writing card and enable Enable Direct .htaccess Writing (Experimental). Save the writing method, return to the Limit Settings card, save the desired values, and check Current Server Values again. Refresh the page if needed. Server configuration can still restrict the result.
Pro recovery and optimizer tools
Emergency Recovery Mode includes a Rescue Link and PIN for assistance when the WordPress dashboard is unavailable. The recovery page offers a one-click limit fix. Keep the link and PIN somewhere safe in case you need them.
For sites using WooCommerce or heavy page builders, MaxLimits Pro includes advanced one-click optimizers with specific High Power modes. Pro also includes priority support with direct assistance from the developers at DominoPress.
Get started
Install and activate MaxLimits Pro, then go to Settings > MaxLimits. Review the server information, choose the limits relevant to your site, and save them. Use the Current Server Values panel to see what the PHP environment is enforcing.
