Choose where images are stored
Filesystem is the default storage engine, saving forum images in the WordPress uploads directory. In the Forum Images settings, administrators can change the storage directory path and URL. Use {uploads} as a placeholder for the uploads directory. A directory change applies to future uploads; existing images stay where they are.
When Infinite Uploads is active, forum images are automatically offloaded to cloud storage, served through its CDN, and optimized without extra setup. Amazon S3 storage and delivery require the separate, paid S3 Image Storage for bbPress add-on.
Set upload rules and image settings
Pro lets administrators limit uploads to selected user roles and set the maximum number of images allowed per post. Images can be downsized to specified maximum dimensions, converted to one image format, and compressed using adjustable PNG and JPEG levels. Users can click an image in a post to view it enlarged in a lightbox.
Review and maintain stored images
Administrators can check the total image count and file size statistics. The “Cleanup Unnecessary Files” tool works with the active storage engine. It removes temporary uploads older than 24 hours, images removed from existing topics and replies, and image folders for deleted posts.
For a forum setup, choose the storage engine and directory, then set permitted roles, the per-post image limit, resizing, format, and compression preferences. Users can upload from the editor’s image dialog and insert files into their posts. Review image counts and file sizes as needed, and execute cleanup to remove unused files.
