WordPress click heatmaps

Aurora Heatmap Premium displays recorded visitor clicks on desktop and mobile pages as visual heatmaps inside WordPress. Use the maps to see which page areas receive attention, check whether calls to action are noticed, and find content or layouts that may need revision. The paid edition has no page or page-view limits.

The unread-detection tab includes click, breakaway, and attention heatmaps. Premium also includes a weekly email and priority email support.

How collection and accuracy work

Install and activate the add-on, then allow visitor activity to accumulate. Depending on site traffic, data may build up within a few hours to two days. The plugin sends recorded activity through Ajax as often as necessary, and the dashboard shows it after you reload the screen, rather than updating automatically in real time.

A specific algorithm selects activity for recording, and administrator access is excluded. Heatmap totals may therefore be lower than visit counts; use them to understand behavior patterns, not as a count of every visit. The accuracy setting controls which activity is recorded. High accuracy is recommended for an accurate heatmap. If recording is insufficient, try Standard. Switching to High accuracy deletes previous standard data; choosing Standard starts standard recording from that point onward.

Heatmap data is associated with a page URL. If you change a permalink or post slug, the new address is treated as a separate page.

Privacy, setup, and caching

Aurora Heatmap runs within WordPress. It does not use cookies, track users, send recorded data to an external server, or record personally identifiable data, including IP addresses. Install and activate the plugin to start collecting activity; coding and a separate account setup are not required. Premium use requires a monthly or annual license agreement.

The plugin can be used with WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, and WP Super Cache. If a cache plugin interferes with measurement, turn off JavaScript-related optimization or exclude jQuery and the Aurora Heatmap measurement script, reporter.js, from optimization. If data does not appear, clear the cache and check that the website is receiving visitors. Very low traffic may result in little or no counting.
