Locate and manage website files
Browse a file tree, use its context menu, set a custom root path, search folders, and calculate folder sizes. Create, copy, move, duplicate, rename, preview, download, upload, archive, extract, and delete files or folders. Batch uploads and downloads, ZIP and unzip operations, and drag-and-drop uploads are supported. WPIDE uses the WordPress Filesystem API for file operations.
Edit files and recover drafts
The editor has tabs, syntax highlighting, line numbers, matching-parenthesis highlighting, code folding, automatic indentation, find and replace, keyboard shortcuts, and WordPress and PHP autocomplete. PHP syntax is checked before saving, and file backups and the recovery wizard can help restore a file after an error.
Auto Save periodically writes your work to a separate draft at an interval you choose, leaving the original file unchanged. If you close the editing page before saving manually, you can use the draft for recovery. Auto Saved Quick Diff compares the draft with the current file so you can choose whether to restore the draft or keep the current version. A full-screen toggle offers more editing space.
Work with files, configuration, images, and databases
The standard editor works with files in wp-content. When File Manager Advanced Mode is enabled, all files and folders are available for editing, including WordPress core files and wp-config.php; access still depends on hosting permissions. Config Manager lists the constants in wp-config.php and can add, update, or remove them with duplicate checks.
Database Manager can view and create tables, add, update, or delete rows, change table structure, and update column indexes. Advanced Image Editor can resize and crop images, apply filters, add frames or corners, and place text, stickers, patterns, or gradients.
Use WPIDE in WordPress
Open WPIDE in the WordPress admin area and choose the file manager or editor to find and work on site files. Use tabs to move between files. For unfinished edits, the autosave draft and quick diff provide a way to review a recovery option. Use Advanced Mode, configuration, picture, and database tools for the corresponding maintenance task, and review edits before applying them.
