Organize media and WordPress content
WP Media Folders PRO, also known as CatFolders Pro, extends the WordPress Media Library with folder-based organization. Group files by project, client, topic, content type, or another structure that fits your workflow. In the WordPress admin, use the folder tree to filter media by folder and move files with drag and drop while working in the Media Library or editing content.
You can also organize pages, posts, and custom post types, including WooCommerce products, coupons, and Elementor templates, to keep related entries together.
Choose folder tools for your workflow
- Subfolders: Create child folders below a parent folder. Each main folder can contain unlimited subfolders.
- Bulk moves: Select multiple files or folders and move them together with drag and drop. You can also bulk-select pages, posts, and custom post types to move them into folders.
- Sorting: Sort files by file name, created date, modified date, author, newest, oldest, and other available settings. Set a default order or sort temporarily while working.
- Folder permissions: Use a shared folder structure or assign permissions by user role. Available controls cover adding, viewing, and editing folders.
- Folder imports: Import existing folder structures from supported add-ons, including FileBird, Enhanced Media Library, WordPress Media Library Folders, WordPress Real Media Library, WP Media Folder, HappyFiles, Folders, and Wicked Folders.
- Media Library Assistant: CatFolders enhances the Media > Assistant area and supports the [mla_gallery] shortcode with folder-related parameters.
- Editors and builders: Listed integrations include Gutenberg, Elementor, WPBakery, Visual Composer, Themify, Divi Builder, and Thrive Architect.
Use folders across website workflows
Nested folders can group campaign assets, client materials, product imagery, editorial files, or downloadable files. Editors can find files by folder instead of scrolling through a date-based library. On multi-author blogs, ecommerce sites, and multi-vendor marketplaces, role-based folder permissions can help manage who may add, view, or edit folder structures.
If you are moving from another folder extension, the import option can bring in structures from the supported plugins listed above. Folders can also keep templates, products, posts, pages, and media arranged within the WordPress admin.
Set up the folders
Install and activate WP Media Folders PRO in WordPress, then open the integrated folder tree in the Media Library. Create parent folders and subfolders, move existing items with drag and drop, and configure sorting or folder permissions for your site. If you are migrating, use the folder import option for a supported add-on.
After setup, use folders while managing media and supported post types, including during page-building workflows with the listed editors and builders.
