Simple Client Dashboard Pro adds a WordPress user role named Admin for clients and webmasters who need to manage a website without access to every administrative area. The role sits between the default Administrator and Editor roles. Its available access depends on the permissions you configure.
The free Simple Client Dashboard extension includes an interface for editing the role. Pro adds more detailed controls for selected third-party add-ons.
Dashboard areas and actions
Configured permissions can conceal these WordPress menus and tabs:
- Settings, Plugins, Tools, and Users menus
- Appearance > Editor tab
The role can also disable the theme installation button, theme-switching buttons, and the WordPress Core Updates button. These settings limit access to selected configuration and website-wide actions.
Permissions in supported plugins
Pro controls let you set what the Admin role can see or do in supported plugins:
- Advanced Custom Fields: Hide the ACF menu and settings, including definitions, rules, and fields.
- Custom Post Types: Restrict creating Custom Post Types.
- Contact Form 7: Restrict creating, deleting, and editing forms while allowing the role to view submissions.
- Draw Attention: Restrict adding Draw Attention pictures.
- Easy Digital Downloads: Select whether the role can manage products, customer payments, reports and sales data, and settings.
- Five Star Business Profile and Scheme: Hide business profile settings.
- Gravity Forms: Restrict creating, deleting, and previewing forms, with selected editing and submission access available.
Assign and adjust the role
Install Simple Client Dashboard on the client's WordPress website, assign the Admin role to the relevant client or webmaster, and review its permissions in the editing interface. The role is available with little to no setup. Pro controls can then be configured for the supported plugins, and permissions can be revised as responsibilities change.
