Extend ACF Pro fields and editing workflows

For WordPress projects using ACF Pro, Advanced Custom Fields: Extended Pro adds field types, field group locations, flexible content utilities, and administration modules. The Pro edition adds more than 20 ACF fields, enhances more than 10 existing fields, and delivers more than 20 additional field group locations.

The installation notes list ACF Pro 5.8 as the minimum requirement. An upgrade notice says support for ACF Pro 5.8 ended in September 2026 and recommends ACF Pro 5.9 or later for compatibility with future versions.

Fields and field group locations

Field options include styled True/False controls, expanded WYSIWYG Editor options, and a Payment Field that supports Stripe and PayPal Express. Additional settings include field visibility, global conditional rules, advanced validation, instruction placement, custom required messages, and minimum or maximum entry counts.

Advanced locations let field groups target posts by author, date, slug, or path; menu items by depth or type; and taxonomy terms by criteria such as name, parent, or slug. Other locations include attachment and visitor lists, dashboard widgets, field values, post type archives and lists, taxonomy lists, WooCommerce pages, and WordPress settings pages.

Flexible content and administration

The Flexible Content Grid System organizes layouts in a grid, while layout location rules control where related features apply. The Templates Manager helps organize reusable layouts. Screen layout controls and a built-in Classic Editor settings interface provide additional ways to configure editing screens.

Dynamic Block Types and Dynamic Options Pages let administrators register and manage ACF block types and options pages from WordPress administration. The Pro edition supports synchronizing these with JSON and PHP documents. Field group tools also include local PHP synchronization, JSON synchronization controls, force synchronization, custom keys and metadata, categories, alternative display titles, and extra instruction placements.

Forms, metadata, and multilingual workflows

The enhanced Forms module manages Advanced ACF Forms in WordPress administration. It retains native ACF form settings and adds settings and actions for controlling form behavior. Developer Mode presents custom metadata for posts, terms, users, and options in a readable view. WPML and Polylang support helps with multilingual workflows.

Enable the modules and settings needed for the project, then configure field groups, locations, synchronization, forms, options pages, and block types to match its content structure.
